SUMMER 2011

Trading places
The first few days of September saw the finalization of two trades in the Ultimate Fantasy Football League, proving that owners are always on the lookout for ways to upgrade their rosters.

On September 1, a deal was completed which sent New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez and Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith from the TH Best Bets to Deltaman, in exchange for Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy.

The 24-year-old Sanchez went 278-for-507 during the 2010 season with 17 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and 3,291 passing yards. He is expected to serve as the backup to Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers). Smith, 32, caught 46 passes for 554 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 14 games last year.

McCoy, 24, went 135-for-222 with six touchdowns, nine interceptions and 1,576 passing yards during the 2010 campaign. He will serve as the No. 1 quarterback for the Best Bets and will become the fifth Brown on Mark Bender's active roster.

In a corresponding move, Miami Dolphins tight end Anthony Fasano was released by Deltaman.

Eight days after the aforementioned trade went down, the Cheeko Chiefs acquired Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels from Craigntx, along with first-round and third-round selections in the 2012 UFFL draft, in exchange for Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones and Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas.

The oft-injured Daniels, 28, had 38 receptions for 471 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 11 games last season.

Jones, 24, rushed 185 times for 800 yards and caught 48 passes for 450 yards, with two total touchdowns. He will be the Cowboys' first-string running back and will be plugged into Craig Lechner's starting lineup immediately. Thomas, also 24, is projected to be Jacksonville's top receiver in 2011 after catching 66 passes for 820 yards and four touchdowns last year, although he will start the season on Chad Fuller's bench.

Craigntx waived Chicago Bears running back Marion Barber in order to comply with roster regulations.

2011 UFFL draft review: Life After Favre

The 10th annual Ultimate Fantasy Football League draft was held Tuesday, Aug. 23, and for the first time since the 2008 season, infamously indecisive quarterback Brett Favre chose not to announce his return to the NFL on the same day. That being said, there was plenty of excitement surrounding the event and quite a few memorable moments. Off-topic draft chatter ranged from television shows to other sports (particularly baseball) to life in general. Here are some of the highlights and noteworthy occurences:

- The entire drafting process took 90 minutes, although several owners felt it moved too slowly (compared to the 2010 draft, it took 15 minutes longer). This was due in part to numerous glitches on the Fleaflicker website. One of the more comical errors resulted in the software stating that CheeseWhiz owner Jim Douglas and Deltaman owner Craig Hoffman were away from the computer ... and then back again (repeatedly, within a very brief period of time), when in fact neither of them ever left. This could have had disastrous results if the draft computer had not righted itself, because it would have automatically selected a player at a low-priority position for them early in the draft. "I'm glad this is not a money league, 'cause my team is about to go on a run of kickers and [team defenses]," Douglas said. Hoffman quipped, "I wish it were a money league. I'd trade my players for money."

- Another glitch resulted in commissioner Jared Byrd intending to add a player to the Pulverizers' draft queue, but instead giving Sisyphean Endeavors owner Grace Cloud Houston Texans placekicker Neil Rackers. Fortunately, the erroneous pick was erased before further damage could be done.

- At the beginning of the draft, The Catch owner Andrew So disappeared temporarily, although it was uncertain whether it was due to the computer he was using or the draft room itself. "My whole thing froze and I didn't realize it," he said. "I was wondering why it was taking N2deep five minutes to draft." Hoffman then compared the frozen computer to the frozen remains of baseball legend Ted Williams.

- Twelve of the league's 14 owners appeared at the live draft; the only two who were unavailable were Mark Bender of the TH Best Bets and Craig Lechner of Craigntx. Even The North Star Sledgehammers of 10,000 Lakes owner Jay Klinkhammer was on hand, after having missed the live draft several years in a row. "Don't I automatically get a playoff berth for attending the draft?," he said.

- The draft also marked the UFFL debut for Angie Williams of Chicago, Illinois. Williams - who is the sister of bbashers head coach Calvin Brown - took over ownership duties of The Steel Curtain from Tony DelSignore, after he stepped down Aug. 22. She decided to keep the same team nickname as her predecessor because she is a fan of Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

- The first pick in the draft was Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, chosen by the Sisyphean Endeavors. Craigntx selected Indianapolis Colts running back Donald Brown with the final pick of the draft, commonly referred to as "Mr. Irrelevant." Apparently, Lechner thought he was so irrelevant that he cut him loose from the roster the following day.

- Due to multiple early-round draft picks, the Cheeko Chiefs were finished choosing players by the eighth round, while The North Star Sledgehammers of 10,000 Lakes were done by the 11th round. Most teams needed 13 rounds to fill out their roster, although several teams needed 14 or 15 rounds.

- Hoffman proposed the idea of having players acquired in offseason trades not count as franchise players, while also having them protected from being drafted by other teams. This idea could be voted on next offseason in the annual league questionnaire.

Franchise name stability for Jay Klinkhammer?
UFFL owner
Jay Klinkhammer has changed the name of his team from Carlton Banks to The North Star Sledgehammers of 10,000 Lakes. It marks the 18th different franchise name that the Minnesota native has used since joining the UFFL in 2002, and the third different name in less than a year. However, he said he's comfortable with the new moniker, which sounds eerily similar to The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, although it is uncertain if this was done intentionally.

"Name change done," he proudly announced Thursday, Aug. 11, in a message on Facebook. "Will never change unless I move out of state. Scout's honor."

Klinkhammer added that he wanted a long-term team nickname to have the word "hammer" in it, in reference to his last name. As a result, his team helmet was also changed, as he desired something less boring than a blank purple helmet.

Michael Vick headed to Cheeko Chiefs

Klinkhammer guarantees appearance in championship game

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has been traded from Carlton Banks to the Cheeko Chiefs, in exchange for two first-round selections in the 2011 UFFL draft, as well as the Chiefs' first-round pick in the 2012 draft.

The 31-year-old Vick was one of the league's top quarterbacks during the 2010 season, going 233-for-372 with 3,018 passing yards, 21 passing touchdowns and only six interceptions in 12 games. He also picked up 676 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. However, he was expendable due to the presence of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning on Carlton Banks' roster.

In return for Vick, Carlton Banks will receive the fifth and eleventh overall picks in the 2011 draft from the Cheeko Chiefs, as well as a first-round selection in the 2012 draft (whose position will be largely dependent upon how the Chiefs finish the 2011 season).

With three first-round selections, along with Manning and wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals) and Greg Jennings (Packers) on the roster, the immediate future suddenly looks very bright for the Minnesota-based franchise.

"As the long lost Ryan brother, I am guaranteeing a UFFL Bowl appearance," Carlton Banks owner Jay Klinkhammer wrote in a post on the league's Fleaflicker message board, in reference to braggadocious NFL coaches Rex and Rob Ryan. "From worst to first!" (Klinkhammer actually finished next-to-last in the Northern Division last year, posting a 4-9-0 regular season record.)

Cheeko Chiefs head coach Chad Fuller could not be immediately reached for comment.

The deal was agreed to Tuesday, Aug. 2, but did not get published on the Fleaflicker website for review until Monday, Aug. 8, due to a glitch. (A similar glitch occured last year, preventing a trade between the Cheeko Chiefs and Craigntx from being finalized until hours before a game was supposed to start.) It was made official Tuesday, Aug. 9, after no owners vetoed the trade during the 24-hour review period.

UFFL News Ticker: Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been put on the trading block by Klinkhammer ... CheeseWhiz owner Jim Douglas has offered Carlton Banks Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and a second-round pick in the 2011 draft, in exchange for three first-round selections ... Rosters will be cleared from the Fleaflicker website Monday, Aug. 15, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern, in order to give owners an opportunity to pre-rank the unprotected players. This was originally scheduled to be done Tuesday, Aug. 9, but the Michael Vick trade situation pushed the deadline back. Final rosters from the 2010 season are available here, so that owners can still make trades - however, trade offers must be e-mailed directly to the commissioner (at jared259@alumni.upenn.edu) after both sides have agreed to terms.

Deltaman acquires Aaron Rodgers
Looking to make a splash prior to the 2011 draft, Deltaman traded the fourth overall pick to the bbashers, in exchange for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The 27-year-old Super Bowl XLV Most Valuable Player went 312-for-475 for 3,922 passing yards during the 2010 regular season, with 28 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions.

To clear space on the roster for Rodgers, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Jon Kitna was released. Rodgers will join wide receivers Devery Henderson (Saints) and Jordy Nelson (Packers) on Deltaman's keeper list, with San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis now eligible to be drafted. To view the entire list of UFFL franchise players, click here.

Trade rumors and talks:
With the draft less than three weeks away, some UFFL franchises have been active in trade talks, although not with much success. The Pulverizers' offer of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees to the Cheeko Chiefs, in exchange for the seventh and 11th picks in the 2011 draft, was rejected, although Brees could be headed to the Steph Infections in exchange for the sixth overall pick. Meanwhile, the Pulverizers' offer of Saints wide receiver Marques Colston to the Sisyphean Endeavors, in exchange for a second-round pick, was turned down because owner Grace Cloud said she didn't see enough of a difference between Colston and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who is on her keepers list.

Games open for registration: The UFFL Pickem Challenge (formerly known as the Yahoo! Football Pickem Challenge) and UFFL Survival Football Contest (formerly known as the One (Loss) and Done Survival Football Contest) are back for another season. Despite the name changes, the games are still hosted on the Yahoo! Fantasy Sports website.

In the case of the UFFL Pickem Challenge, the rules are the same as last year. The object of football pickem is to correctly predict the winners of every NFL regular season and postseason game. Point spreads will not be considered, but confidence points (a scale where you wager more points on matchups where you feel more comfortable about the outcome) will be used. In order to join the pickem group, head to http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem ... the league ID number is 7988, and the password is favre.

As for the UFFL Survival Football Contest, there is one major rule change. The object of survival football is to pick an NFL team that you feel total confidence in, with regards to their chances of winning that particular week. As long as you keep correctly picking winning teams, your team stays alive ... otherwise, your entry is finished for the year once you suffer your first loss. The catch is that you can only pick a given NFL team once during the season. To join the survival football group, go to http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/survival ... the league ID number is 3041, and the password is favre.

Roster news: Rosters will be purged from the Fleaflicker website, with the exception of each team's three keeper players, on Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern. This will give owners two weeks before the draft to pre-rank players. Trades will still be allowed to take place before and during the draft, because 2010 final rosters will still be viewable on this website; however, trades will have to be sent directly to the commissioner after all owners involved have agreed to any proposed deal so that rosters can be adjusted on Fleaflicker. On draft night, any proposed deals will need to be announced in the live Fleaflicker draft room. During the period from Aug. 9 to Aug. 23, the 24-hour review period for trades will be waived.

Dynasty?: Although nothing has been finalized yet, the Ultimate Fantasy Football League may make the transition from a keeper league to a dynasty league several years from now. This issue is expected to be discussed at some point after the 2011 season, if not during the upcoming season. Of course, owners will have the opportunity to weigh in on this topic when the time comes.

Back and better than ever
It is official. The 2011 NFL season will go on as planned, which means that the Ultimate Fantasy Football League's 10th anniversary season will not be wiped out by a work stoppage beyond our control. More importantly, it appears as though labor peace is guaranteed in pro football for the next decade.

Preliminary franchise player lists are in the process of being submitted to the commissioner and the draft is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern, on the Fleaflicker website. Aside from the later-than-normal dates for league activities, these procedures are no different than any other season. Let the games begin!

Name changes:
Two franchises have undergone name changes within the last week. The franchise formerly known as Sir Michael Vick has been renamed Carlton Banks, while the franchise formerly known as Henne Given Sunday has been renamed Sisyphean Endeavors.

Meanwhile, the Pulverizers have relocated once more to the Northern Division to maintain geographical accuracy between the divisions, as they are located in Pennsylvania, while the Sisyphean Endeavors are in North Carolina.

On the trading block: Football Gal owner Mozelle Meyers tried to trade Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb to Carlton Banks, in exchange for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. The deal was quickly laughed at and rejected by Carlton Banks owner Jay Klinkhammer. Meyers then countered by offering McNabb for any of the following three players: Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson or Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. These offers were also turned down. "I'm keeping either Vick or Manning," Klinkhammer wrote at the time. "McNabb is no good to me." Meyers claimed that she made the offer because McNabb is heavily rumored to be heading to the Minnesota Vikings - Klinkhammer's favorite team.

All of the players on the Pulverizers roster are currently available via trade, including New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. The team is looking for high draft picks or top-notch running backs in return. N2deep offered a second-round pick in the 2011 UFFL draft (20th overall) for Brees, but the offer has not been accepted.

Other contests: The Yahoo! Pickem Challenge (NFL pickem game) and One (Loss) and Done (survival football) contests will return for the 2011 season and invitations will be sent out to all UFFL owners as soon as registration is open ... Commissioner Jared Byrd is considering establishing a second fantasy football league on Fleaflicker with identical rules to the UFFL, mainly for people who are not able to compete in the Ultimate Fantasy Football League due to overcrowding. Stay tuned.

2011 season to proceed as normal - for now
This message was distributed by commissioner Jared Byrd via e-mail to all UFFL owners July 7, 2011:

The tenth season of the Ultimate Fantasy Football League is just around the corner. Even though labor negotiations are still up in the air between NFL owners and players, the UFFL is going to proceed as though there will be a full 16-game season. This means that the process of collecting the names of franchise players from all 14 teams will begin immediately.

Each team will protect three players who were on their roster at the end of last season. To see the final rosters, click here. As the franchise player selections are received, they will be posted on this page as quickly as possible. All of the owners who participated in 2010 are returning for the 2011 season, with the exception of Jason Wedgwood. Grace Cloud will take over the "Henne Given Sunday" franchise, and will select her three keepers from Jason's old team.

Feel free to send me the picks as soon as possible by sending an e-mail to jared259@alumni.upenn.edu. Remember, you can always go back and change your selections as many times as you want between now and draft day.

The live draft is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, August 23 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern, on the Fleaflicker website. However, this date could be pushed back depending on when the lockout ends. Click here to see the draft order and here for the draft pick tracker.

SPRING 2011

Entrance strategy
Grace Cloud, winner of the first ever UFFL championship during the 2002 season, has returned to the league as the owner of the Henne Given Sunday franchise. She replaces Jason Wedgwood, who went winless during the 2010 season. For the time being, the team nickname will remain the same, although this is expected to change.

Cloud is a combined 44-35-0 through five seasons (36-30-0 in the regular season, 8-5-0 in the postseason). An original UFFL owner, she departed after the 2003 season but returned in 2007 before leaving again following the 2009 campaign. Wedgwood, a native of England, is 24-59-0 through six seasons (23-56-0 in the regular season, 1-3-0 in the postseason). He never posted a winning record in any season and set the league record with 14 total losses during the 2010 season.

It is unknown at this time which division Henne Given Sunday will compete in, assuming there is a 2011 NFL season.

League questionnaire results: Owners have overwhelmingly voted to keep the playoff structure the way it is now. Currently, the playoff system works similarly to the NCAA tournament, where re-seeding does not take place after each round. The proposed rule change would have made re-seeding possible, with the highest remaining seed always playing the lowest remaining seed. There were nine votes to keep things the way they are, only two votes in favor of change and one undecided vote.

Owners also voted to keep the draft order the way it is now, based on a team's final record (instead of instituting a lottery for the first four overall selections, similar to the NBA draft). However, this vote was somewhat closer, with six "no" votes, four "yes" votes, and two undecided votes.

Among the fill-in rule change suggestions were a system to get owners involved more regularly, the addition of defensive players to starting lineups and team rosters, and reduced bench sizes and lineups to increase the number of options in free agency. In case you missed commissioner Jared Byrd's suggestions regarding these situations, they can be found at this link:
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/ultimatefantasyfootballleague/message/1005

The only people who did not participate in the questionnaire are Wedgwood, Cloud and Byrd.

Keeping his talents in Minnesota: It appears as though Jay Klinkhammer, head coach of Sir Michael Vick, will not be relocating to Philadelphia after all - or at least not for the foreseeable future. A franchise move from Minnesota to Pennsylvania would have resulted in the shuffling of the Pulverizers from the Southern Division back to the Northern Division, with Sir Michael Vick occupying a spot in the Southern Division - a situation made even more unusual by the fact that both franchises would have been in the same city but in different divisions.

Preparing for 2011: The 2011 UFFL schedule has been generated by Fleaflicker and the draft order can be viewed by clicking on this link. The trading restriction has also been lifted, meaning deals can be made between now and draft day. As usual, the UFFL draft will take place in mid-August, although a firm date has not yet been established.

Duh ... winning!: Congratulations to the following winners in several other fantasy sports games:

- Andrew So won the UFFL Postseason Challenge contest, edging out second-place finisher Jared Byrd by 27 points (483 to 456).

- Jim Douglas won the Football Pickem Challenge contest, outscoring his closest opponent (Calvin Brown) by 38 points (1,461 to 1,423). Brown actually had more victories than Douglas - 166 to Douglas' 163 - but confidence points accumulated throughout the course of the season determined the champion. Third-place finisher George Thomas also correctly picked the winners of 163 games but only compiled 1,396 points.

- Thomas was the winner of the Ultimate March Madness Pickem bracket contest on Yahoo! Sports, successfully fending off eight other contestants - none of whom had Jim Calhoun's Connecticut Huskies winning it all. The champions of the Ultimate Fantasy Basketball Challenge and Ultimate Fantasy Hockey Challenge - both held on Fleaflicker - will be known in a matter of days.

WINTER 2011

Southern Division wins UFFL Pro Bowl again
For the first time in UFFL Pro Bowl history, Southern Division head coach Calvin Brown was unable to cheer on his team's starting quarterback in person. The game also marked the first time that Jay Klinkhammer was unavailable to lead the Northern Division squad. Unfortunately for the North, the end result was the same as the previous two years, as the Southern Division All-Stars soundly defeated the Northern Division All-Stars, 156.88-120.49.

Chad Fuller of the Cheeko Chiefs was appointed to lead the North, but even if he had selected the highest-possible scoring starting lineup from the players on his roster, they would have come up short in a contest that was never really close. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning was the team's leading scorer, accumulating 22.56 fantasy points. Houston Texans Arian Foster (bbashers) led the South with 32.50 points, as he rushed for 180 yards and scored two touchdowns. The victory marked Brown's third career Pro Bowl win in as many opportunities.

And the reason why Klinkhammer was unavailable? He has been busy preparing for a March 1 move from Minnesota to Philadelphia, but has announced plans to return to the UFFL next season. Depending on which owners return for 2011, the league may need to shuffle teams between divisions to maintain geographical accuracy. Stay tuned.

UFFL News Ticker:
Registration for the UFFL Postseason Challenge contest on the NFL.com website ends Saturday, Jan. 8, prior to kickoff of the first playoff game. Thanks to Brown, Mozelle Meyers and Andrew So for signing up ... Jim Douglas remains in first place in the Yahoo! Pickem Challenge contest, which runs through the Super Bowl ... Lucky seven
Seventh-seeded squad ends season with seventh straight win

The Catch entered the last week of the UFFL regular season with a 6-6 record, just hoping to keep their streak of eight consecutive years making the championship bracket of the playoffs alive. Just a few weeks prior, their odds of competing for the title seemed even slimmer, when they had a 3-6 record following a Week 9 blowout loss against the CheeseWhiz.

It would be the final loss for them all season, as they rolled off seven consecutive victories, including six wins on the road.

The last of those victories, of course, was in UFFL Bowl IX, as The Catch defeated The Steel Curtain, 116.96-111.05. Andrew So won his first ever league championship while facing another coach, first-year participant Tony DelSignore, who was making his debut in the title game. In a game decided by less than six points, it was the New England Patriots defense making all the difference, as they singlehandedly posted 30.56 fantasy points. New York Giants wide receiver Mario Manningham (17.60 points) and Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub (17.40 points) also eclipsed the 15-point mark for the winners.

Fittingly, the top scorer for The Steel Curtain was the Pittsburgh Steelers defense (19.20 points), with San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (15.90 points) and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan (14.52 points) also having decent outings. However, backup quarterback Matt Cassel (Kansas City Chiefs) had 32.56 points on the bench, which would have given DelSignore more than enough points to win if he had substituted him in for Ryan. According to assistant commissioner Mozelle Meyers, DelSignore had considered making a quarterback switch prior to the game, but then decided against it.

Championship Bracket - Third Place Game
(1) bbashers 136.27, (6) TH Best Bets 89.70 - Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' 42.76 fantasy points led all UFFL players for Week 16, as Calvin Brown earned his second career postseason victory. Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt was the top scorer for the Best Bets, with 14.95 points. However, Brown is not finished coaching for the season - he will lead the Southern Division in the UFFL Pro Bowl next week (for the third consecutive year).

Consolation Bracket
(11) Deltaman 94.92, (9) Football Gal 84.39 - Deltaman head coach Craig Hoffman ended his season on a winning note, thanks to 21.24 fantasy points from New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, while Football Gal fell to 0-2 in this year's championship bracket despite 16.52 points from Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne.

(10) Cheeko Chiefs 119.42, (13) Sir Michael Vick 91.07 - The Cheeko Chiefs finished the year with four consecutive victories (including two in the consolation bracket), and seven wins in their final eight weeks, despite dismantling their roster in order to stock up on 2011 draft picks. Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard posted 26.36 fantasy points to lead all scorers, while Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick racked up 25.82 points for his namesake franchise. Sir Michael Vick head coach Jay Klinkhammer is scheduled to coach the Northern Division in the UFFL Pro Bowl in Week 17.

Around the UFFL: Week Fifteen Edition
The holiday season is here and with the second round of the UFFL playoffs having come and gone, we now know which teams ended up with the gift of life and which teams ended up with a lump of coal. Here is a brief synopsis of each of Week 15's games:

Championship Bracket
(5) The Steel Curtain 117.75, (1) bbashers 111.25 - After being a non-factor for virtually the entire season, San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson (112 receiving yards and three touchdowns) posted 28.60 fantasy points to give first-year head coach Tony DelSignore the chance to compete in UFFL Bowl IX, following an upset over the league's top-ranked team. Tennessee Titans quarterback Kerry Collins was the top scorer for the bbashers with 20.28 points, who were missing starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) because of a concussion. "The way I figure it, if I continue to have the best record in the league, I'm a shoo-in to win the 2014 UFFL championship," Brown said. "Something to look forward to."

(7) The Catch 126.26, (6) TH Best Bets 98.16 - Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub's 24.00 fantasy points were enough to catapult The Catch into the UFFL Bowl for the first time since the 2002 season, when the franchise was known as The Mad Dawgs and coached by Kenny Ortiz. Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy's 21.72 points led the Best Bets, who will compete against the bbashers in the third-place game in Week 16.

Consolation Bracket
(13) Sir Michael Vick 149.16, (9) Football Gal 119.27 - Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice (36.30 fantasy points) had his finest game of the season, scoring two touchdowns while racking up 153 rushing yards and 80 receiving yards. Unfortunately for Football Gal, it wasn't enough, as the namesake of the Sir Michael Vick franchise posted 45.98 points to win UFFL Player of the Week honors.

(10) Cheeko Chiefs 133.26, (11) Deltaman 121.73 - New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning led all scorers with 34.56 fantasy points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Cheeko Chiefs, who won their third consecutive game. The winners were led by Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jacoby Ford's 23.03 points.

AUTUMN 2010

Around the UFFL: Week Fourteen Edition

The quest for postseason glory has started and only one thing is for certain - whoever wins this year's title will be celebrating their first-ever UFFL championship. The first round featured upsets galore, meaning that several teams who weren't expecting to be eliminated so soon will have extra time to focus on Christmas shopping.

Championship Bracket
(1) bbashers 123.46, (8) Pulverizers 93.45 -
In the only championship bracket matchup not featuring an upset, Calvin Brown won his first-ever UFFL postseason game, thanks to the efforts of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew (20.05 fantasy points). New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees had 25.54 points in a losing cause, as the Pulverizers were knocked out in the first round for the second time in the last three years.

(7) The Catch 133.31, (2) CheeseWhiz 88.18 - Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden's 209 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns (along with 37.80 fantasy points) were not enough to propel his real-life team to victory but they were enough to turn a nailbiter into a blowout. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had 26.76 points for CheeseWhiz, who lost in the first round for the second consecutive year.

(6) TH Best Bets 116.70, (3) Craigntx 96.34 - Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner led all scorers with 30.80 fantasy points for Craigntx, but the defending UFFL champions were eliminated in the first round, thanks in large part to New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw (21.90 points). As a result, Mark Bender ended up with his first career postseason win and will move on to face The Catch in Week 15.

(5) The Steel Curtain 112.90, (4) N2deep 58.94 - Fittingly, a team called "The Steel Curtain" was led by 26.64 fantasy points from the Pittsburgh Steelers defense, as Tony DelSignore won his UFFL postseason debut. Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson was the top scorer in N2deep's lineup, with 12.65 points. The game marked the second time in as many weeks that the teams had met, with The Steel Curtain winning both times. DelSignore will face the bbashers in the next round of the playoffs.

Consolation Bracket
(11) Deltaman 101.60, (14) Henne Given Sunday 99.58
- This game was only decided by 2.02 fantasy points even though Henne Given Sunday head coach Jason Wedgwood hadn't changed his lineup in about four weeks; if he had, the team almost certainly would have registered their first win of the year. The New York Jets defense notched 25.48 fantasy points for the winners, who will move on to face the Cheeko Chiefs in the next round. The Baltimore Ravens defense had 29.28 points for Team Wedgwood.

(13) Sir Michael Vick 120.98, (12) Steph Infections 60.40 - This consolation matchup featured another AWOL head coach, although Jay Klinkhammer ended up on the winning side of this contest. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, for whom the franchise is obviously named, recorded 28.40 fantasy points, while the Green Bay Packers' 13.00 points led the Steph Infections. Klinkhammer's squad will face Football Gal in the second round.

Football Gal
(6-7-0) and the Cheeko Chiefs (6-7-0) earned first-round byes in the consolation bracket as the ninth and tenth seeds respectively. They will return to the virtual gridiron in Week 15.

Around the UFFL: Week Thirteen Edition
For several teams, this was a make-or-break week which determined whether they would have the opportunity to compete for the championship or whether they'd have to settle for the consolation bracket. Some rose to the occasion, while others folded like a cheap suit ... or cheap tent ... or whatever the expression is. Anyway, here's the recap of what went down in the final week of the regular season:

TH Best Bets 137.05, CheeseWhiz 127.78 -
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's 37.34 fantasy points were not enough to give CheeseWhiz double-digit victories this season, as the TH Best Bets hung on for victory despite a late charge from Team Douglas. Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne's 200 receiving yards and 30.50 fantasy points led the way for Team Bender, who reached the championship bracket for the first time in the franchise's existence.

The Catch 104.23, Deltaman 100.05 -
New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs scored 22.30 fantasy points for Deltaman, but it wasn't enough to keep The Catch from winning and advancing to the championship bracket for a ninth consecutive season (and eighth with head coach Andrew So). St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson (17.85 points) was the top scorer for the winners.

Craigntx 113.24, Pulverizers 91.00
- Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson posted 19.60 fantasy points for Team Lechner, as they won their second in a row. Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner had 14.80 points in his first game for Craigntx since being acquired in a late-season deal with the Cheeko Chiefs. The Pulverizers were led by 23.53 points from New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, and made the championship bracket as the No. 8 seed despite ending the regular season with a 6-7-0 record - only the second time in their history they have had a losing record.

Cheeko Chiefs 100.87, Steph Infections 63.93 -
The Cheeko Chiefs ended the season with a semi-respectable 6-7-0 record despite trading several of their star players away for high draft picks - and almost snuck into the championship bracket. Team Fuller was led by 17.96 fantasy points from the Kansas City Chiefs defense, while Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Terrell Owens posted 14.35 points for the Infections. Both teams are ticketed for the consolation bracket.

The Steel Curtain 90.92, N2deep 79.74 -
Both teams had already qualified for the championship bracket, so this game determined little more than seeding. New Orleans Saints running back Christopher Ivory had 23.70 fantasy points for The Steel Curtain, while N2deep was led by 13.74 points from Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams.

bbashers 173.03, Football Gal 88.81 -
Despite having locked up a championship bracket berth long before anyone else, the bbashers didn't let up in the final week, with the New York Giants supplying 34.16 fantasy points for the winners. Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Pierre Garcon had 17.90 points for Football Gal.

Sir Michael Vick 145.62, Henne Given Sunday 72.26
- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick scored 33.88 fantasy points for the winners, with the Baltimore Ravens defense posting 15.76 points for Henne Given Sunday. Both teams were headed for the consolation bracket long before the outcome of this game was decided. More information on this game can be found below.

Good grief
Henne Given Sunday ends regular season without a victory

The 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 2008 Detroit Lions. Rich Kotite's tenure as an NFL head coach. Matt Millen's stint as general manager of the aforementioned Lions. The career of Ryan Leaf. Dennis Miller in the Monday Night Football booth. The concept of the XFL.

The sport of football has seen its share of colossal failures, but never before has a UFFL franchise gone winless throughout an entire regular season ... until now. With Sir Michael Vick's 145.62-72.26 victory in Week 13, Henne Given Sunday dropped to 0-13-0, further cementing their status as the worst team in the history of the league.

The fact that their starting quarterback, Brett Favre of the Minnesota Vikings, threw an interception and left the game with an injury on the same play summed up their season in a nutshell. Favre ended the day with -1.00 points, meaning that head coach Jason Wedgwood would have had a higher score if nobody had been in the lineup as the quarterback. Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall, sidelined because of a hamstring injury, also was a non-factor in the game.

This season, Henne Given Sunday scored an average of 78.96 fantasy points per game, with their highest score (101.33 points) coming against the Steph Infections in Week 9, and their lowest score (44.43 points) coming against the bbashers in Week 4. Entering Week 13, their average margin of defeat was 44.48 points, with their worst loss coming in Week 3 against the TH Best Bets, when they were outscored by 92.64 points. Their closest defeat came against CheeseWhiz in Week 11, when they lost by only 3.04 points.

Wedgwood, one of the league's 12 original owners, returned to the UFFL following a three-year hiatus when Grace Cloud decided not to return following the 2009 season. As Exit Strategy last season, they had gone 6-7-0 during the regular season before winning two out of their three postseason contests.

Despite their struggles, Henne Given Sunday's season is not over yet. They will be competing in the consolation bracket during the first week of the postseason, enabling them to potentially end the season on a high note ... or possibly add to the futility they have experienced this year.

Around the UFFL: Week Twelve Edition
Pulverizers 130.86, The Steel Curtain 118.72 – The Oakland Raiders' defense came through with 21.36 fantasy points in a must-win game for the Pulverizers, as they improved to .500 on the year. Carolina Panthers running back Mike Goodson led all starters for The Steel Curtain with 23.55 points, although backup quarterback Matt Cassel (Kansas City Chiefs) had 36.12 points stowed away on the bench. Despite the loss, Tony DelSignore's team clinched a wild-card berth.

N2deep 151.30, TH Best Bets 127.84 –
Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis may have posted 40.25 fantasy points to earn UFFL Player of the Week honors, but it wasn't enough to overcome the efforts of N2deep, who clinched a wild-card berth with the victory. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe compiled 39.50 points for the victors, who scored at least 150 points for the third consecutive week.

Sir Michael Vick 129.91, Deltaman 79.16 –
Jay Klinkhammer snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 3-8 on the year, thanks to 32.60 fantasy points from Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings. With the loss, Deltaman was insured of having their sixth-ever losing season, despite 16.08 points from New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. It was the first game Team Klinkhammer played with their new nickname; the franchise was 2-6 as A-Peterson Fan Club and 0-2 as TaJarvis Jackson.

Craigntx 107.87, Football Gal 95.52 –
Craig Lechner is now guaranteed to have the opportunity to defend his UFFL title, thanks to a victory over Football Gal, losers of five of their last six games. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin led the winners with 16.75 fantasy points, while Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice posted 17.85 points in a losing effort.

Cheeko Chiefs 156.85, bbashers 130.27 –
The bbashers suffered only their second loss of the year, while the Chiefs posted their highest point total of the season in an attempt to sneak into the championship bracket. Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jacoby Ford posted 32.02 fantasy points for Team Fuller, with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers compiling 29.86 points for the bbashers.

Deltaman 104.57, Steph Infections 68.90 –
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning recorded 20.94 fantasy points for the winners, while Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. scored 12.20 points for the Steph Infections. Both teams currently stand at 5-7 and will need a lot of help to reach the championship bracket of the postseason.

The Catch 99.61, Henne Given Sunday 71.99 –
San Diego Chargers running back Mike Tolbert led the way for The Catch with 19.05 fantasy points, as they evened their record at 6-6. Team Wedgwood remained winless despite 18.35 points from Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason, and finished the year with an 0-6 regular-season record at home.

Michael Turner traded to Craigntx
The Cheeko Chiefs have traded Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner to Craigntx, in exchange for a first-round pick and a fifth-round pick in the 2011 UFFL draft. The deal was agreed upon Tuesday, Nov. 23, but did not get approved by commissioner Jared Byrd until 12:57 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, Nov. 28, as a result of a Fleaflicker glitch preventing him from seeing the proposed trade sooner. As a result, Turner's stats from his Week 12 contest will count for the Cheeko Chiefs' game against the bbashers, because Chiefs head coach Chad Fuller had set his starting lineup with Turner in it, under the assumption that the deal would be unable to be completed before game time.

Turner, 28, was one of Fuller's three keeper players entering the season. Through his first 10 games of the season, Turner had rushed 200 times for 864 yards with six touchdowns and caught 10 passes for 69 yards.

The Chiefs currently have four first-round draft selections and no picks after the eighth round, according to the UFFL draft tracker.

UFFL News Ticker: Henne Given Sunday lost to The Catch in Week 12, giving them an 0-12-0 record, setting the league record for most regular-season losses in a single season. They will attempt to avoid becoming the first ever winless team against Sir Michael Vick in Week 13, and need to score at least 45.77 fantasy points to reach the 1,000-point mark for the year. No UFFL franchise has missed the 1,000-point plateau since the 2003 regular season.

Sizing up the UFFL playoff picture
As we head into the final two weeks of the UFFL regular season, let's take a look at each team's chances down the stretch to make the championship bracket and win UFFL Bowl IX. Remember that all 14 franchises will compete in the postseason, but only the top eight franchises are eligible for the championship bracket, with the remaining six clubs participating in a consolation bracket.

They're in
As of Thanksgiving Day, the only two teams that had clinched berths in the championship bracket were CheeseWhiz (8-3-0) of the Northern Division and the bbashers (10-1-0) of the Southern Division. Head coaches Jim Douglas and Calvin Brown will have an excellent chance to face off against each other in both the Pro Bowl and the UFFL Bowl, but both coaches are still looking for their first title despite enjoying plenty of regular-season success. Douglas has 70 career regular-season victories (more than any other coach) and Brown's .865 winning percentage through 37 regular-season games is the highest ever. Unfortunately for them, this success has not translated to the playoffs; Douglas has a 7-10-0 postseason mark, while Brown is winless in two playoff contests.

All but official
Even though N2deep, Craigntx and The Steel Curtain (7-4-0) haven't officially clinched berths in the championship bracket, it's a safe bet to say that they'll be there. All three clubs are guaranteed to finish the regular season with winning records and no team that has ever had a winning record has missed the championship bracket. The only thing that remains up in the air are their first-round playoff opponents. N2deep head coach George Thomas and first-year coach Tony DelSignore of The Steel Curtain are both looking for their first UFFL postseason wins, while Craigntx head coach Craig Lechner is hoping to defend his title.

In fantasy football purgatory
Five teams currently find themselves one game above or one game below .500: the TH Best Bets (6-5-0), Football Gal (6-5-0), the Steph Infections (5-6-0), The Catch (5-6-0) and the Pulverizers (5-6-0). What makes this list somewhat surprising is that the latter two teams are the only two of the 12 original UFFL franchises that have never missed the chamionship bracket. If the season ended today, the first three teams in this group would make the championship bracket, with the other The Catch and the Pulverizers bound for the consolation bracket. The Steph Infections would be the No. 8 seed because they have a better divisional record than The Catch, and the Pulverizers lost head-to-head matchups to both of these teams earlier in the season.

That being said, the Pulverizers have also suffered from a string of rare bad luck recently; they have scored 150 or more fantasy points in four of their last five games, yet have only won one of those games. Their point total is the second-highest in the league, but they have "allowed" more fantasy points than any other UFFL team (in other words, opponents tend to have their best weeks while facing the Pulverizers). In fact, the highest and third-highest point totals for one team in a single game in league history have been accomplished in the last five weeks against the Pulverizers.

Meanwhile, The Catch lead the Northern Division (and are sixth overall) in points scored, with Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White (177.62 points) leading the way. However, they find themselves tied for second place in the division with the Steph Infections, three games behind CheeseWhiz.

Hanging by a thread
Cheeko Chiefs and Deltaman (4-7-0), as well as Sir Michael Vick (3-8-0), are still mathematically alive as far as the championship bracket is concerned, but will need to win their games and get plenty of help from other teams in order to make it. However, the Chiefs are currently in the midst of a fire sale, and Jay Klinkhammer famously said last season that he would consider trading away some of his players if his team continued to struggle, so don't be surprised if several moves are made. Then again, stranger things have happened - Klinkhammer once won the UFFL Bowl in a season where he entered the playoffs with a losing record (2007). Deltaman faces two teams with losing records (Steph Infections and The Catch), while the Chiefs and Sir Michael Vick both square off against one team with a winning record, as well as the winless Henne Given Sunday franchise.

Better luck next year

Barring a trade, Henne Given Sunday (0-11-0) is guaranteed to have the first pick in the 2011 UFFL draft. They have set a league record for most consecutive losses in a season and they need to win each of their final two contests to avoid becoming the first-ever team to lose 12 regular-season games. They are also trying to avoid becoming the first UFFL franchise to post fewer than 1,000 fantasy points in a season since the Steph Infections (968.11 points) and iwilldestroyall (827.20 points) in 2003; entering Week Twelve's games, they had only scored 882.24 points.

LeGarrette Blount traded to the Pulverizers
The Cheeko Chiefs' fire sale continued earlier this week, as they traded Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back LeGarrette Blount to the Pulverizers in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2011 UFFL draft.

The 24-year-old Blount has rushed for 441 yards and four touchdowns through seven games this year and immediately upgrades the club's weakest area. "The running back position has been a sore spot for my team all year," said Pulverizers head coach Jared Byrd. "Jonathan Stewart's been sidelined the last few weeks with a concussion, but he hadn't been doing much even when he was healthy. LaDainian Tomlinson's done a great job since coming back (in an earlier trade with the Cheeko Chiefs) but he can't do it all by himself. Jason Snelling and Darren Sproles don't play often enough to make much of an impact and Keiland Williams has done well but also has to split the carries with two other backs in Washington, so we had to do something to improve."

Just hours after the trade was completed, Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis went on injured reserve, meaning that Williams was in line to get the bulk of the carries once again in Week Twelve, especially with Ryan Torain's injury status being uncertain. "I would have made the deal anyway even if I had known this information because it puts the team in a better position for Week Thirteen and beyond," Byrd said.

As a result of the trade, the Pulverizers currently have no selections prior to the third round of the draft. Meanwhile, the Cheeko Chiefs have stockpiled three first-round picks and two second-round picks.

Cheeko Chiefs head coach Chad Fuller also proposed another deal at the same time to the Pulverizers: Kansas City Chiefs running back Thomas Jones in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2011 draft, but it was rejected. "Picking up another running back was tempting, but I decided not to make the deal because he wouldn't have started over Tomlinson, Blount or even Williams," Byrd said.

UFFL News Ticker: If the season ended today, Andrew So (Northern Division) and Calvin Brown (Southern Division) would be the two head coaches for the 2010-2011 UFFL Pro Bowl, because their teams have scored the most points in their respective divisions so far this season
... N2deep head coach George Thomas is leading the Yahoo! Football Pickem Challenge contest, with 844 points through Friday, Nov. 26.

Around the UFFL: Week Eleven Edition
Normalcy has returned to the Ultimate Fantasy Football League; all 32 NFL franchises were back in action this week, meaning that fantasy football owners could once again field their best starting lineups (barring circumstances such as injuries or suspensions). As a result, the outcomes of these contests were nowhere near as wacky as those from the previous week.

The Steel Curtain 143.46, TH Best Bets 108.18 – Buffalo Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson's 32.85 fantasy points powered Team DelSignore to their third victory in the last four games, guaranteeing that they will finish the regular season with a winning record. Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy led the Best Bets with 23.55 points, as they fell to 6-5.

CheeseWhiz 94.00, Henne Given Sunday 90.96 – This low-scoring affair came down to the wire, with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's 19.24 fantasy points pushing CheeseWhiz over the top. Team Wedgwood remained winless despite 33.04 points courtesy of the Baltimore Ravens defense. Henne Given Sunday will need to win both of their final two games to avoid setting the UFFL mark for most losses during the regular season.

Sir Michael Vick 129.91, Deltaman 79.16 – Jay Klinkhammer snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 3-8 on the year, thanks to 32.60 fantasy points from Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings.

Football Gal 113.24, Steph Infections 84.10 – Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice's 21.80 fantasy points allowed Mozelle Meyers to snap a four-game losing streak as Football Gal improved to 6-5. New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez posted 32.30 points for the Steph Infections, who dropped to 5-6.

N2deep 170.84, Craigntx 131.20 - One week after posting the third-highest fantasy point total in UFFL history, N2deep once again led the league in scoring, thanks in large part to the efforts of Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson (27.25 points). Craigntx's free fall continued as they lost their third consecutive game, despite 32.92 points from San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. It is Craig Lechner's first three-game losing streak since November 2008.

The Catch 139.88, Cheeko Chiefs 119.19 - Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's 40.50 fantasy points lifted The Catch to their fifth win of the season and second victory in a row, and his performance was good enough to earn UFFL Player of the Week honors. Team Fuller, who entered the contest with a three-game winning streak, was led by 19.90 points from Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner.

bbashers 159.66, Pulverizers 156.31 - Calvin Brown became the first UFFL owner ever to earn 10 or more victories in three consecutive seasons, thanks to 38.14 fantasy points from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Pulverizers fell to last place in the highly competitive Southern Division, despite 37.28 points from New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

Around the UFFL: Week Ten Edition
This was the seventh and final week of NFL byes, so many star players were sidelined, forcing owners to scour the waiver wire and free agency pool for replacements or simply rely on their bench players. The Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers were idle.

CheeseWhiz 116.25, Steph Infections 115.99 - To say this was one of the wilder and wackier weeks in UFFL history would be an understatement; four games (including this one) were decided by less than three points, including this contest. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady posted 38.30 points for CheeseWhiz, as they extended their Northern Division lead to two games over the Infections, who were led by 29.36 points from New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. It's interesting to note that this game would have ended in a tie if owners had voted to get rid of the fractional points concept several years ago, but alas, there have been no stalemates to date in the nine-year history of the league.

The Catch 155.05, TaJarvis Jackson 152.90 - Imagine that your fantasy football team had a lead of 155.05-81.70 heading into the Monday Night Football game, with the opponent only having two active players. Seems like an insurmountable lead, huh? However, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick (57.32 fantasy points, an all-time UFFL record) and wide receiver DeSean Jackson (13.88 points) combined for 71.20 points to turn a 73.35-point laugher into a 2.15-point nailbiter that went down to the wire. If TaJarvis Jackson head coach Jay Klinkhammer had started another wide receiver and moved New Orleans Saints running back Ladell Betts (on a bye week) to the bench in favor of New England Patriots running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis, they would have had their third win of the season. The Catch were led by 33.68 points from Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Deltaman 109.15, Craigntx 106.83 - In the UFFL's annual all-Craig matchup (Hoffman vs. Lechner), Deltaman halted a two-game losing streak in a contest decided by only 2.32 fantasy points. New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning's 26.62 points led the winners, while Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas collected 23.29 points in a losing effort. Craigntx has dropped consecutive games for the first time since Weeks 10 and 11 of the 2009 season; however, they proceeded to win their final five games en route to their first-ever championship, along with their first five games of the current campaign.

TH Best Bets 112.43, Football Gal 110.28 – In another matchup decided by just 2.15 fantasy points, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco scored 26.90 points for the Best Bets, who improved to 6-4 after picking up their second victory in a row. Football Gal was led by 20.80 points from Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb, but dropped their fourth consecutive game to fall to .500 for the season.

bbashers 135.88, The Steel Curtain 101.92 – Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan (31.14 fantasy points) was the highest overall scorer in this game, but his efforts for The Steel Curtain weren't enough to keep the bbashers from earning their ninth win of the year and clinching at least a wild-card berth in the championship bracket for the postseason. Calvin Brown's squad was led by 25.15 points from Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew.

N2deep 181.81, Pulverizers 156.36 - For the third time in four weeks, the Pulverizers lost to the highest-scoring team in the UFFL (and in two of those weeks, they posted the second-highest score in the league). George Thomas' team flirted with breaking the all-time scoring record set by The Catch in Week 7, but a lackluster offensive (and defensive) effort by the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football put an end to those dreams. Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton (35.74 fantasy points) was one of four players to score more than 25 points for the winners, while the Pulverizers were led by Washington Redskins running back Keiland Williams, a recent free-agent pickup who scored 33.40 points after rushing for several touchdowns well after the game was out of reach.

Cheeko Chiefs 101.98, Henne Given Sunday 57.55 – Chad Fuller emerged victorious in the first completely international UFFL game since 2006, while Henne Given Sunday dropped their tenth consecutive game to begin the season, extending their record for the worst start in league history. The Chiefs were aided by 29.18 fantasy points from Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard, while Houston Texans wide receiver David Walter registered 16.50 points for Team Wedgwood, who had two players with bye weeks inserted into their starting lineup.f the year. It marked the first ever matchup between Steel Curtain head coach Tony DelSignore and his aunt, Football Gal head coach Mozelle Meyers, who received 24.44 points from the New Orleans Saints defense.

Around the UFFL: Week Nine Edition
This was the sixth week of NFL byes, so many star players were sidelined, forcing owners to scour the waiver wire and free agency pool for replacements or simply rely on their bench players. The Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, St. Louis Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans and Washington Redskins were idle this week.

bbashers 147.35, Craigntx 97.23 - Calvin Brown won the battle for first place in the Southern Division, as he won his sixth consecutive game to improve to 8-1 on the season. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers posted 33.66 fantasy points for the winners, while Craigntx was led by 34.10 points from San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers.

TH Best Bets 154.85, Pulverizers 89.07 - Thanks to an impressive showing by the Cleveland Browns against the New England Patriots, Mark Bender's squad - which contains several Cleveland players - cruised to victory against the Pulverizers. Browns running back Peyton Hillis led the Best Bets with 34.20 fantasy points, while the Pulverizers' top contribution came from New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (21.12 points). Oh, and the starting defense for the losing team? None other than the New England Patriots.

Steph Infections 135.60, Henne Given Sunday 101.33
- Henne Given Sunday became the first team eliminated from contention for the championship bracket of the postseason round, as they slipped to 0-9 despite posting their highest point total of the season. Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre's 27.94 fantasy points weren't enough to overcome the Steph Infections, as they won their second in a row to move into eighth place in the league rankings. Stephanie George's squad was powered by 36.96 points from the Green Bay Packers defense, in a performance worthy of winning the UFFL Horse Trailer Award.

N2deep 146.75, TaJarvis Jackson 113.38
- Not even a name change could change the fortunes of Jay Klinkhammer's squad, as the loss guaranteed that they will finish the regular season with a losing record. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson led TaJarvis Jackson with 20.69 fantasy points in his return from a concussion, but N2deep received 26.08 points from the Oakland Raiders defense to give them their fifth victory of the season. As a token of his appreciation for their efforts, George Thomas released the Raiders defense less than 24 hours after the game ended.

CheeseWhiz 146.05, The Catch 73.69
- Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's 27.25 fantasy points helped CheeseWhiz earn their third divisional victory in as many weeks, as they maintained control of first place in the Northern Division. Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden (13.15 points) had a relatively pedestrian week by his standards, but still managed to be the top scorer for The Catch, as they fell to 3-6.

Cheeko Chiefs 120.03, Deltaman 85.35
- The Chiefs improved to 3-6 with their victory over Deltaman, but are 3-2 in their last five games and have won two straight. Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner posted 22.70 fantasy points for the winners, while New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning's 29.45 points were not enough to keep Team Hoffman from losing their second in a row.

The Steel Curtain 108.08, Football Gal 96.03
- Buffalo Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson (18.25 fantasy points) hasn't been fortunate enough to be on the winning side in an NFL game this season, but his efforts allowed The Steel Curtain to win their sixth game of the year. It marked the first ever matchup between Steel Curtain head coach Tony DelSignore and his aunt, Football Gal head coach Mozelle Meyers, who received 24.44 points from the New Orleans Saints defense.

Identity crisis
On Thursday, Nov. 4, A-Peterson Fan Club head coach Jay Klinkhammer changed the name of his franchise to TaJarvis Jackson, an obvious nod to Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. No official reason was given for the sudden name change, although his team's disappointing 2-7-0 record probably has something to do with it. Ironically, he has never had Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson or Tarvaris Jackson on his UFFL roster.

Klinkhammer, who has been a member of the Ultimate Fantasy Football League since its inception in 2002, has used 15 different team nicknames throughout his nine seasons, with "A-Peterson Fan Club" dating back to the 2007 campaign on Yahoo! Sports. Prior to this year, the nickname had brought him great success - two of his three championships came as "A-Peterson Fan Club." It was also the nickname with the longest lifespan. His other nicknames included Spock's Burritos (2002), Midwest Riders (2003), New Nathan Detroits (2004), FrankieWelfareBoy (2004), Bring the Funk (2005), Dino Bravo (2005), Eliminated (2005), Born to Hand Jive (2006), K-Rob Fan Club (2006), K-Rob Rehab Club (2006), Purple People Eaters (2006), Maurice Jones-Drew (2006) and Jay...Is A Real Boy (2007).

In a statement to the league posted on the Fleaflicker message board, commissioner Jared Byrd said that franchises should wait until the offseason to announce name changes from this point forward due to the lengthy amount of time needed to update portions of the league website.

Around the UFFL: Week Eight Edition
This was the fifth week of NFL byes, so many star players were sidelined, forcing owners to scour the waiver wire and free agency pool for replacements or simply rely on their bench players. The Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles were idle this week.

bbashers 114.12, N2deep 100.40 - Houston Texans running back Arian Foster posted 28.45 fantasy points for the bbashers, as they remained tied with Craigntx for the best record in the UFFL at 7-1. Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton scored 20.56 points for N2deep in a losing effort, as they dropped to 4-4.

Craigntx 117.07, TH Best Bets 76.70 - The quarterbacks were the top scorers for both sides in this Southern Division tilt, with Philip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers (23.50 fantasy points) helping Craig Lechner improve to 7-1 on the season. The efforts of recently-acquired Josh Freeman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (19.32 points), however, weren't enough to keep the Best Bets from falling to 4-4.

Pulverizers 153.53, Football Gal 111.13 - For the second consecutive week, the Pulverizers topped the 150-point mark, but this time they were on the winning end. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees led the winners with 22.00 fantasy points, despite rumors of having a fracture and a torn meniscus in his left knee. Football Gal dropped their second straight game, despite 18.10 points from Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson. Both teams stand at 5-3 on the year.

The Steel Curtain 114.38, Henne Given Sunday 69.61 - Seven starters for Tony DelSignore's squad, including Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis (16.55 fantasy points), had 10 or more points in the only non-divisional game of the week. Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten (20.85 points) was the only starter to generate double-digit fantasy points for the still-winless team from Great Britain, who started two players on bye weeks and had a third player (Houston Texans wide receiver Kevin Walter) post a goose egg on the scoreboard.

Steph Infections 111.63, The Catch 91.78 - In the matchup of two San Francisco 49ers fans living in the state of New York, Stephanie George got the better of Andrew So, thanks to 22.20 fantasy points from the Green Bay Packers defense. The Catch were led by 21.65 points courtesy of Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker. Somehow, I don't think this loss will upset Andrew too much, as his San Francisco Giants ended up winning the World Series around the same time that this contest was wrapping up.

Cheeko Chiefs 130.27, A-Peterson Fan Club 111.02 - In a battle of teams that appear to be jockeying for prime drafting position at this point, the Chiefs emerged victorious, thanks to 32.05 fantasy points from Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, good enough for UFFL Player of the Week honors. Team Klinkhammer was led by 26.60 points from the Detroit Lions defense. Both teams are currently 2-6.

CheeseWhiz 63.05, Deltaman 59.63 - CheeseWhiz head coach Jim Douglas forgot to set his lineup (two of his starters were on bye weeks), but Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (22.70 fantasy points) picked up the slack for his team, as they earned their fifth win of the season. Deltaman was led by 15.80 points from Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall.

Around the UFFL: Week Seven Edition
This was the fourth week of NFL byes, so many star players were sidelined, forcing owners to scour the waiver wire and free agency pool for replacements or simply rely on their bench players. The Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets were idle this week.

The Catch 189.25, Pulverizers 157.86 - Andrew So set a UFFL record for most points scored in a single game, with Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden (44.05 fantasy points) inserted into the starting lineup as a last-minute replacement for Arizona Cardinals running back Tim Hightower. In addition, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White (34.05 points), Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (23.18 points), Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno (22.15 points) and the Seattle Seahawks defense (21.80 points) all eclipsed the 20-point plateau. "The last-minute start for McFadden made my day," So said.

On most other weeks, the Pulverizers' score would have beaten any other team. They were led by 30.40 points from the Washington Redskins defense, with New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (22.24 points), Saints wide receiver Marques Colston (21.60 points) and New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith (20.05 points) each scoring more than 20 points. Interestingly, their top scorer - Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (38.96 points) - was on the bench and it would have been mathematically possible for the Pulverizers to win if Fitzpatrick and St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola (18.79 points) had started instead of Brees and Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd (3.3 points).

The previous record of 174.18 points was set by A Fake Football Team during the opening week of the 2007 season against Deltaman.

Craigntx 149.67, The Steel Curtain 96.55 - Team Lechner improved to 6-1, thanks to 30.25 fantasy points from Buffalo Bills wide receiver Lee Evans. Real-life teammate Steve Johnson posted 21.90 points for The Steel Curtain, who dropped their second straight contest.

A-Peterson Fan Club 86.75, Steph Infections 60.51 - After beginning the season 0-5, Jay Klinkhammer picked up his second win in as many weeks, thanks in large part to Stephanie George forgetting to set her lineup (four starters were on bye weeks). That being said, her top scorer (the Green Bay Packers defense, with 17.56 points) managed to outscore the top scorer for A-Peterson Fan Club (Green Bay Packers running back Brandon Jackson, with 17.10 points).

bbashers 132.88, TH Best Bets 125.85 - Calvin Brown won his fourth consecutive game and maintained his position as the leader in the Southern Division, thanks to 27.40 fantasy points from New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had 26.90 points in a losing effort.

Deltaman 132.81, Henne Given Sunday 76.45 - Deltaman snapped a two-game losing streak, with Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt (36.75 fantasy points) leading the offensive attack. Henne Given Sunday dropped their seventh game in as many weeks, despite 20.75 points from Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten.

N2deep 120.57, Football Gal 84.04 - George Thomas picked up his third consecutive victory while ending the two-game winning streak of Mozelle Meyers. N2deep was led by 21.84 fantasy points courtesy of the Tennessee Titans defense, while Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward chipped in with 19.55 points for Football Gal.

CheeseWhiz 125.97, Cheeko Chiefs 121.59 - This was the closest UFFL matchup of the week, with only 4.38 fantasy points separating the two sides. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant helped get the CheeseWhiz back on the winning track with 29.42 points, as they picked up their first win since Week Three. Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner led the 1-6 Chiefs with 27.25 points.

Around the UFFL: Week Six Edition
This was the third week of NFL byes, so many star players were sidelined, forcing owners to scour the waiver wire and free agency pool for replacements or simply rely on their bench players. The Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and Cincinnati Bengals were idle this week.

Pulverizers 121.21, Deltaman 102.49 - New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees led all Week Six players with 27.72 fantasy points, powering the Pulverizers to their fourth consecutive victory. Deltaman was led by New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning's 18.98 points.

N2deep 129.42, Cheeko Chiefs 104.94
- Washington Redskins running back Ryan Torain (23.45 fantasy points) was the top scorer in this contest, but it wasn't enough to give Chad Fuller his second win of the year. Ironically, it was a player on Fuller's favorite team (Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe) who did the most damage to his fantasy squad, posting 23.40 points.

A-Peterson Fan Club 113.30, Craigntx 80.48
- Craig Lechner had been undefeated ever since his famous proclamation that Jay Klinkhammer would "feel the wrath of Craigntx" prior to UFFL Bowl VIII; Klinkhammer had been winless since that moment. However, the tables turned during Week Six, with A-Peterson Fan Club emerging victorious despite having two players post zero points (one of whom was injured and one of whom was on a bye week). San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers led Team Lechner once again but only posted 14.96 fantasy points, while Indianapolis Colts signal-caller Peyton Manning scored 23.18 points for the winners.

Football Gal 126.37, Henne Given Sunday 99.72
- Jason Wedgwood's team posted their highest point total of the young season in this match but is still searching for their first win. Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall accumulated 16.85 fantasy points for Henne Given Sunday, while the winners were paced by Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson's 20.10 points.

The Catch 107.90, The Steel Curtain 104.73
- In a nailbiter that came down to the final minutes of the Monday Night Football game, The Catch pulled out a win by a difference of only 3.17 fantasy points. Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub's performance (24.50 points) allowed Andrew So to snap a three-game losing streak. The Steel Curtain was led by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan (20.30 points), as Tony DelSignore lost for the first time in the last four contests.

bbashers 130.11, CheeseWhiz 94.97
- Houston Texans running back Arian Foster (26.40 fantasy points) helped Calvin Brown earn his third consecutive victory, while CheeseWhiz dropped their third straight game after getting out of the gate to a 3-0 start. Jim Douglas' team was led by 16.32 points from the Minnesota Vikings defense.

TH Best Bets 110.00, Steph Infections 98.21
- The Best Bets picked up their fourth win in their last five games, with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco (23.90 fantasy points) leading the way. Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie (15.85 points) was the top scorer for the Steph Infections, who dropped their second in a row.

UFFL News Ticker: It has not been a great year for Northern Division franchises or international franchises in the UFFL. Through the first six weeks of the regular season, Northern Division teams had combined for a 12-40-0 record against their Southern Division counterparts and six out of the top seven franchises (according to Fleaflicker rankings) were based in the South. In fact, the disparity between the two divisions is so wide that the last-place team in the South had the same record (3-3-0) as the division leader in the North ... Meanwhile, the Canadian-based Cheeko Chiefs and British-based Henne Given Sunday franchises have combined for a 1-11 record, with the Chiefs' only victory coming against the TH Best Bets.

Around the UFFL: Week Five Edition
This was the second week of NFL byes, so many star players were sidelined, forcing owners to scour the waiver wire and free agency pool for replacements or simply rely on their bench players. The Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks were idle this week.

Craigntx 153.43, The Catch 87.12 - Team Lechner was the highest scoring franchise in the league for Week Five, as they held on to their claim as the only undefeated team in the UFFL. San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers posted 29.64 fantasy points for the winners, while Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White scored 16.05 points for The Catch, who fell three games below .500 with the loss.

Cheeko Chiefs 116.12, TH Best Bets 71.20
- The UFFL's Canadian entry took advantage of two players scoring goose eggs for the Best Bets (New York Giants wide receiver Mario Manningham and Cleveland Browns running back James Davis). The Detroit Lions defense (33.16 fantasy points) helped Chad Fuller get his first win of the season, while Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco (15.84 points) was the top scorer for Team Bender.

The Steel Curtain 123.64, Steph Infections 108.30
- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin's 28.85-point performance lifted Team DelSignore to a 4-1 mark, with the Steph Infections falling to 3-2. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Terrell Owens led all starters on the losing squad with 18.60 points but benched San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree (20.75 points) was even better. In addition, starting Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (32.14 points) over New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez (7.64 points) would have dramatically changed the outcome of the game.

Pulverizers 130.58, Henne Given Sunday 88.60
- Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd (23.75 fantasy points) helped the Pulverizers earn their third consecutive victory as Team Wedgwood continues to search for their first win. Not even Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre's efforts (25.66 points) were enough to make a major impact on the scoreboard.

Football Gal 115.24, CheeseWhiz 72.01
- Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice's performance (30.60 fantasy points) allowed Mozelle Meyers to win her fourth game of the year - the same number of games her team won during the 2009 regular season. CheeseWhiz, who lost their second consecutive game, was paced by 18.16 points from the Cincinnati Bengals defense.

N2deep 126.02, Deltaman 104.93
- Both clubs stand at 2-3 after this closely contested battle, with Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte (31.70 fantasy points) leading the way for the victorious N2deep franchise. Craig Hoffman's team was led by 24.96 points courtesy of the New York Jets defense.

bbashers 151.67, A-Peterson Fan Club 126.59
- Jay Klinkhammer's club remained winless despite having the fourth-highest point total in the league (and the highest among losing squads), while Calvin Brown improved to 4-1 on the season. The Philadelphia Eagles defense scored 29.96 points for A-Peterson Fan Club, but New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks was slightly more productive, racking up 30.50 fantasy points for the bbashers.

UFFL News Ticker: Invitations for the Fantasy Basketball Challenge Fleaflicker league will be sent out this week. The NBA regular season begins Tuesday, Oct. 26.

LaDainian Tomlinson returns to the Pulverizers
Sam Bradford headed to the Cheeko Chiefs

After spending his entire UFFL career with the Pulverizers (and his entire NFL career with the San Diego Chargers), running back LaDainian Tomlinson appeared to be on the downside of his career at the end of the 2009 season, his days of being a No. 1 option seemingly over. The 30-year-old had failed to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career and went the entire year without having a single game of 100 or more rushing yards.

The Pulverizers opted to go with several younger running backs, while protecting Indianapolis Colts tight end Dallas Clark and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and wide receiver Marques Colston as franchise players. However, this plan backfired, as the quartet of Jerome Harrison, Jason Snelling, Darren Sproles and Jonathan Stewart combined to post the worst rushing statistics in the league.

Meanwhile, Tomlinson was enjoying a resurgence with his new teams, the New York Jets and the Cheeko Chiefs. He had racked up 341 rushing yards, 82 receiving yards and three touchdowns despite splitting time with Shonn Greene. At the same time, St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford was buried on the Pulverizers' bench behind Brees, and the 0-4 Chiefs were beginning to look ahead to next season - and what better way to rebuild than through a rookie quarterback (not just any rookie, but the top overall pick in the NFL draft) with plenty of upside?

With that in mind, the Cheeko Chiefs dealt Tomlinson, New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith and a third-round pick in the 2011 UFFL draft to the Pulverizers in exchange for Bradford and a first-round selection in the 2011 draft. Through four games this year, the 25-year-old Smith has 22 receptions and 211 receiving yards, while the 23-year-old Bradford has thrown for 944 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions.

UFFL News Ticker: With the start of the 2010-11 NHL regular season, the 10-team Fantasy Hockey Challenge league has gotten underway on Fleaflicker, although it will not be a keeper league as originally planned. Due to lack of interest, the league was converted from a private league to a public league hours before the live draft, and so six of the league's 10 owners have no connections to the UFFL. Jared Byrd, Craig Hoffman, Mozelle Meyers and George Thomas are the only owners with ties to the Ultimate Fantasy Football League ... UFFL owners have voted to give up their rights to veto trades within 24 hours of a deal being agreed upon by both sides. This means that the only person who currently has the power to approve or reject a deal is the commissioner, but it also means that trades will be finalized quicker. Previously, six owners had to reject a deal during a 24-hour span for a trade to be turned down.

Around the UFFL: Week Four Edition
This was the first week of NFL byes, so many star players were sidelined, forcing owners to scour the waiver wire and free agency pool for replacements or simply rely on their bench players. The Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were idle this week.

Pulverizers 128.35, Cheeko Chiefs 112.04
- One has to wonder if Chad Fuller's team would have picked up their first win of the season if the Kansas City Chiefs had played in Week Four.  Running backs Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones, wide receiver Dexter McCluster and the Kansas City defense were among the benched players because of the bye week. Instead, the Pulverizers improved to 2-2, thanks to 29.80 fantasy points from the San Diego Chargers defense. New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson scored 29.40 points in his final game for the Cheeko Chiefs; he was traded to the opponent just days after this contest ended.

The Steel Curtain 102.13, A-Peterson Fan Club 99.21
- Tony DelSignore picked up his second straight victory while keeping A-Peterson Fan Club winless, with a 22.25-point performance from Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai. As usual, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning  (24.98 fantasy points) was the top scorer for Jay Klinkhammer's squad.

Deltaman 112.18, Football Gal 73.81
- Craig Hoffman handed Mozelle Meyers her first loss of the season as he improved to .500. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall led the way with 22.35 fantasy points, while Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb scored 13.90 points for Football Gal in a losing effort.

TH Best Bets 138.52, The Catch 103.92
- Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne (23.80 fantasy points) was one of three players for Mark Bender's squad to top the 20-point plateau in Week Four, as he improved to 3-1 on the season. The Catch, who fell to 1-3, were led by Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub's 19.78 fantasy points.

bbashers 132.10, Henne Given Sunday 44.43
- In the most lopsided game of the week, Houston Texans running back Arian Foster (30.90 fantasy points) put up a performance worthy of landing on the UFFL horse trailer, as his team improved to 3-1. Not only did Henne Given Sunday remain winless, but they posted the lowest score by any team in the league this season. Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason (10.50 points) was the highest scorer for Jason Wedgwood, whose lineup had two players who were on bye weeks and a third who was inactive.

Craigntx 113.99, CheeseWhiz 99.28
- The defending champions are the last undefeated team standing in the UFFL, thanks to a strong showing from San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers (21.64 fantasy points). CheeseWhiz dropped their second straight, despite 16.30 points from Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams.

Steph Infections 126.04, N2deep 101.78
- In a matchup featuring two teams headed in opposite directions, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Terrell Owens racked up 27.10 fantasy points for the Steph Infections, who won their third straight game. His real-life teammate, quarterback Carson Palmer, scored 24.84 points for N2deep, as they dropped their third game in a row.
